In short
This changelog lists every B-ROLL release, newest first, with its date and what changed. Version 1.0, the first public release for Windows 10 and 11, was published on GitHub on 30 Jul 2026. The download page always carries the latest version, file sizes and SHA-256 checksums.
B-ROLL 1.0: first public release
The first public release of B-ROLL for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11, published on GitHub Releases as an installer and a portable exe.
Downloading
- Single videos, playlists and channels from one paste box; channel downloads are switched on in Advanced options.
- A .txt list of YouTube links, and bookmark folders from Chrome, Edge or Brave.
- YouTube search inside the app, with bitrate and resolution shown for every result.
- A download queue you can reorder, with pause, resume, stop and retry on every card.
- Finished downloads remembered across restarts (the last 200).
Clips
- Download only part of a video: typed start and end times, or in and out points in the preview and trim player (needs VLC media player).
- Several parts of one video in one go, each saved as its own file named "Title [mm-ss to mm-ss]".
- Fast keyframe cuts by default, or frame-exact cuts from Advanced options.
- J, K and L shuttle, I and O to mark, Enter to add a part.
Formats
- Video as MP4, MKV or WEBM with a quality cap of Best, 4K, 1080p, 720p or 480p.
- Automatic conversion to an edit-ready ProRes or DNxHR .mov after the download, with resolution and frame rate kept.
- Audio as MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OPUS, with an optional separate audio folder.
- Subtitles embedded or saved as SRT, ASS or VTT, official or auto-generated, language by language.
- The real bitrate and resolution of every file on its card.
Credits, sign-in and updates
- A .credits.txt next to every download and a running credits.txt per folder, on by default.
- cookies.txt support with a guided sign-in wizard for videos that need your own YouTube login.
- An in-app update check that downloads and runs new installers.
- Main window in English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Russian.
- yt-dlp, ffmpeg and Deno fetched automatically on first launch.
